Mirador Sur es un proyecto de testimonio visual que nació del deseo de recuperar archivos fotográficos de los distritos periféricos de la ciudad de Lima, producidos entre 1930 y 2000.
Inicio:
Este proyecto comenzó con la necesidad de preservar el pasado anterior y posterior a la fundación oficial de Villa María del Triunfo, un distrito periférico de la ciudad de Lima fundado en 1961, donde creció Pedro Uriol, a través de la recuperación de su archivo fotográfico.
Villa María del Triunfo, que alguna vez fue un vasto descampado arenoso, ha experimentado una transformación notable. Desde sus humildes inicios, con viviendas hechas de esteras, ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en un distrito moderno y progresista, un testimonio del esfuerzo incansable de sus primeros habitantes. La dedicación de Pedro a documentar este testimonio visual, compuesto por un banco fotográfico existente y archivos personales, es un homenaje a su arduo trabajo y al inspirador recorrido del distrito.
Propósito:
El propósito de este proyecto es urgente y significativo. Tiene como objetivo digitalizar el testimonio fotográfico de los distritos periféricos, que están en un estado constante de metamorfosis. Al preservar su pasado y su historia, podemos asegurarnos de que las historias únicas, tejidas en cada rincón y cada horizonte, no se pierdan con el tiempo.
Mirador Sur: Visual Testimony of the Peripheral Districts of Lima
Mirador Sur is a visual testimony project that was born out of the desire to recover photographic archives of the peripheral districts of Lima City, which were produced between 1930 and 2000.

This project began with the need to preserve the past before and after the official founding of Villa María del Triunfo, a peripheral district of Lima City founded in 1961 where Pedro Uriol grew up, through the recovery of its photographic archive.
Villa Maria del Triunfo, once a vast sandy wasteland, has undergone a remarkable transformation. From its humble beginnings with homes made of straw mats, it has evolved into a modern and progressive district, a testament to the tireless efforts of its first inhabitants. Pedro's dedication to documenting this visual testimony, composed of an existing photographic bank and personal archives, is a tribute to their hard work and the district's inspiring journey.
Purpose:
This project's purpose is urgent and significant. It aims to digitize the photographic testimony of the peripheral districts, which are in a constant state of metamorphosis. By preserving their past and history, we can ensure that the unique stories woven into every corner and every horizon are preserved in time.
